Appalachian Trail Thru-Hike 2021
Between March and August of 2021 colleagues from Appalachian State University and I will be conducting a research project to better understand what motivates long distance thru-hikers and how they endure the challenges that come from a 2193-mile backpacking excursion. If you or someone you know will be Thru-Hiking this year, please consider participating in our survey so we can learn from your experience. Just click on the add to the left! As part of the research project, I will be conducting a 5-month field research project during an attempted Thru-Hike of the 2193-mile Appalachian Trail to learn from hiker's stories and share things that future hikers should think about when preparing for a Thur-Hike. Progress on the project can be found on social media and through my blog at TheTrek.co. Follow me on Twitter and Instagram for updates! Thanks to my sponsors who helped through donations or their excellent PRO Programs. Courtesy of Garmin, I will be using an inReach® Mini to track my progress you can see my progress at my Garmin Explore page. |
